Juicy 77
is the outcome of a research project which aims to
investigate state of the art methodologies for
mathematical modeling and numerical simulation of analog
signal processing equipment. Its preamplifier section is
inspired from an early 90's rack mount preamplifier
manufactured by a legendary amplifier manufacturer
located in the northwestern USA. The power amplifier
section simulates standard pentode powered push-pull
output stages. The loudspeaker cabinet simulator section
includes four classical cabinet types.
Changes affecting
Juicy77 only:
Added support for sampling
frequencies 176.4 kHz and 192 kHz.
New multi-rate loudspeaker
cabinet simulator which consumes 44% less CPU at
sampling frequencies above 48 kHz.
Three new loudspeaker
cabinet models.
Improved simulation of
loudspeaker cabinet resonance.
Soft
clipping alone is not sufficient to emulate the elusive
creamy character of a legendary vintage overdrive pedal.
In order to explore the secret ingredients of legendary
sound and feel, every subtlety throughout the entire
signal path should be meticulously analyzed and
documented. Only this ensures authentic recreation of
the exact sound and feel of the legend in the digital
domain. TS’ Secret is the result of this keen but
painful philosophy.
Just
like its legendary role model, TS’ Secret preserves the
original dynamics of its input signal, which avoids
muddiness and vastly improves clarity and responsiveness
(see the accompanying article for details). Regardless
of the overdrive amount, it stays in focus and delivers
the ultimate touch sensitive dynamic punch.
The
Concept
RetroBand models several aspects of the interaction
between gain stages and transformers of analogue gear,
referred to as intra-modulation (IM), i.e. Class A/B
gain stage switching distortion. It also features
several forms of transient shaping in-between the
stages.
The Sound
RetroBand is a distortion unit at heart, but this type
and concept hasn't been previously available as a
digital model. It goes from warming, sharpening,
roughing up, softening and smoothing - or all these
combined. It may desirably enrich sterile sound sources.
Failing equipment can be easily simulated and this
allows plenty of creativity. With some luck, it makes
things sound "larger than life". The transient enhanced
IM with mid-side stereo control can change or revive a
stereo image, too.
RetroBandLite is a free cut down version of the
commercial
RetroBand.
There are no time or preset usage limitations, but many
of the advanced features of the full version are missing
and RetroBandLite processes everything as mono.
Studio
Devil BVC (British Valve Custom) is a guitar
tube amplifier modeling plug-in that is designed to
mimic the character of "British"-style vacuum tube
heads. This virtual tube amplifier processor is based on
authentic models of 12AX7A vacuum tube preamps and tube
power stages. While primarily intended for guitar amp
modeling and direct recording of both electric guitar
and bass, Studio Devil BVC excels wherever natural tube
overdrive and distortion is needed.
British Valve
Custom features the basic controls of a guitar amp:
GAIN, TONE, and DRIVE. It is based on the gain structure
of popular British Valve (Tube) heads like those made by
Marshall with some subtle modifications to give it
slightly more gain. The dynamic response and tone is
faithful to those from real vacuum tube amps and reacts
to your playing style just like the real thing.
This free plugin will distort your audio subtly or to the
extreme ! Nastyshaper features:Pre and Post gain knobs, 3 different
waveshaping functions, shape 1 has 4 stages, Shapes 2/3 have 2 stages, An 8x
oversampling mode for high-quality offline rendering.
